This beautiful hand potted vase (one that I covet dearly) was potted by Wedgewood potter Ernest Shufflebotham for Crown Lynn. Crown Lynn’s advertising emphasised that the ‘most important feature of all flower arrangements is of course, the choice of a suitable containers’ and that Shufflebotham’s vases provided ample scope for floral arrangements that were ‘always in good taste, particularly where contemporary furnishings play their part in the modern home’. They were not wrong . Fifties vases are to me the quintessential florist vessel, they make everything shine .
